City of Philadelphia Unveils Vistacom Video Wall at New Traffic Operations Center

Allentown, PA, (September 15, 2015) – Vistacom announces the unveiling of the new Traffic Operations Center (TOC) for the City of Philadelphia. Vistacom integrated the new City of Philadelphia TOC, which includes a 10-monitor Barco video wall to display traffic cameras and signal management software within the center. The installation of a video management and distribution system receives and distributes video to and from other city facilities and outside agencies.

“Up until this time every other major U.S. city except Philadelphia has had an interactive traffic operations center to handle traffic problems in real time,” stated Jim Ferlino, President of Vistacom. “We have brought that capability to the city and they now have the ability to monitor traffic patterns and respond immediately to issues.”

Live video streams from a network of 5,000 cameras owned by the city, PennDOT, the Philadelphia Police Department, SEPTA, and other agencies are also accessible.

Philadelphia Mayor, Michael Nutter was on hand for the ribbon cutting and to make the system go live.

“We are extremely happy to be able to take part in this project,” said Ferlino. “The TOC should really help to keep traffic flowing.”
