Vistacom recently integrated a video wall solution for one of the largest state power utilities in the United States.
“The space was new and the client was unclear how exactly the video wall could work,” stated Paul Reigner, Control Room Account Manager. “They need to provide staff with the ability to monitor energy data in real time from thousands of state owned facilities and assist them with real time energy management.” The facility supports various visual data including live metering and SCADA systems, real time grid data, GIS imagery, weather monitoring, and other web-based data sources. The video wall design included Christie Phoenix, a compact, cost effective and highly scalable solution for managing content on video walls. “The client was able to improve work flow by rapidly visualizing and changing the common operating picture of the space,” said Reigner. The audio for the space also took on great importance for the client.
Vistacom’s solution has prepared the client for any type of incident that may happen.
“When most people think of a control room, audio is one of the last elements that is discussed,” stated Reigner. “With this specific project, the original audio design was not conducive to how the client was going to use the space and how the operators where going to work.” As a result, Vistacom deployed a network-based audio solution at the operator level and a room reinforcement system to be utilized as necessary.
Vistacom turned to Biamp and Attero Tech which provide a high level of flexibility and allow each operator to listen to an individual audio source. The video wall is a missioncritical system. The operators must be able to quickly and clearly see exactly what is going on throughout the state, especially in the event of an emergency. “Vistacom’s solution has prepared the client for any type of incident that may happen,” said Reigner.
