Earth Day is a wonderful thing. Everyone take a moment and think about the earth and your carbon foot print, but what about the other 364 days of the year?
At Vistacom, we like to practice “green” integration of our rooms whenever possible, every day. We like to integrate energy efficient products, and we also provided network-connected monitoring and management tools for long-term energy conservation.
Extron is one of our stand-out manufacturers in this area. They have put substantial resources into developing products and technologies that save energy and have come out with the first commercial power amplifiers to be ENERGY STAR qualified. We have even chosen an Extron touch panel for our own conference room because of the light detection feature that shuts down the presentation system if the room is dark. Money back in our pocket.
Another way we can assist you with your green initiatives is our on staff, LEED certified engineer, John Bilodeau. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and buildings that are LEED certified feature lower operating costs, reduce waste sent to landfills, conserve energy and water, reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions, and are generally healthier and safer for occupants. John’s understanding of green building and the LEED Green Building Rating System enables him to initiate the LEED certification process for your building projects, and further strengthens Vistacom’s commitment to “green” integration.
Do not forget that video conferencing technology can be considered a green option as well. Video conferencing uses only small amounts of electricity, as relatively little power is needed to maintain an Internet connection and a computer during the video conference. This contrasts remarkably with the huge amount of fossil fuel that is expended when participants in a traditional conference have to travel to a central location by car, train, or airplane.
So celebrate Earth Day, but do not forget the other 364 days of the year. Also do not forget to call Vistacom the next time you are in the market for some new AV. We have some great ideas to save you money, and help save the planet while we are at it.
