InfoComm 2016 Highlights

By Destiny Heimbecker, Marketing Manager Vistacom, Inc.

Another Infocomm in the books! Between the Vistacom team that attended, we calculated we have been to just under 100 shows. That is a lot of walking.

Infocomm 2016 hit a record of 1000 exhibitors, with 38,833 attendees. It was a busy week, but here is what the highlights of the show were for us:

Barco OpSpace is still a game changing solution in the control room market. "One view and total control" pretty accurately sums it up. Barco’s OpSpace is the first personal workspace that enables operators to easily view, monitor and interact with multiple clients, efficiently managing all data in a single pixel space with just one mouse and keyboard. Operators are at the center of the information, with all data within easy reach.

Biamp Systems added networked 4K video to their Tesira® Platform. The Press announcement was standing room only. TesiraLUX, introduces low-latency, 4K networked video distribution to the Tesira platform. The solution transports both audio and video signals over a single network through the reliability of AVB/TSN.

BTX Technologies entered the room scheduling market with BookIT. The BookIT system includes a sleek 7″ touch panel device, simple wall mounting system and scheduling software. It’s integrated with the most popular scheduling programs including MS Exchange, Office 365 and Google Apps for Work. With BookIT, a meeting can be quickly scheduled using the touch panel display at the conference room site, a computer from an office or a mobile device.

Christie Digital was hands-down the most attention-grabbing booth on the entire floor (Take a tour HERE). They actually presented the entire booth as if you had walked into a hockey arena - the Christie Center. The arena told the story of Christie’s suite of products from digital signage to interactive displays, to the stunning 3D mapping projection system. Another product worth mentioning is the Christie Velvet Apex series DirectView LED. Completely certified LED display video wall available in ultra-fine 1.2mm and 1.6mm pixel pitches and featuring a 16:9 aspect ratio. It brings the “wow”.

Cisco announced the launch of Cisco Spark. Cisco Spark delivers cloud-based business communications that enables customers to message, meet and call anyone, whether it be on their mobile device, desktop or meeting room end-points. Cisco Spark Hybrid Services is the next generation of the Spark Service that that connects clients’ existing on-premises collaboration capabilities to Cisco Spark in the Dimension Data Collaboration Cloud services bringing together the best of both worlds.

Crestron unveiled no less than six new products. The line that received the most chatter was the Avia Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) featuring a DSP programming tool, as well as a selection of amplifiers that support audio over IP using Dante™ audio networking. All new audio solutions integrate natively with DigitalMedia™, touch screens, Crestron Fusion® Cloud, and unified collaboration technology as part of a comprehensive Crestron solution.

Harman got the “oohs and ahhs” from our team with the new AMX Modero X Series retractable touch panel. See what you think HERE

Kramer released Kramer Control, the company's new, comprehensive, cloud−based solution for controlling and providing analytics in any commercial Pro AV environment. Kramer Control lets users seamlessly navigate to any room in an organization and easily control AV systems, infrastructures and devices, including Kramer wireless collaboration products, audio products and systems, thermostats, HVAC, lights, shades, alarms, security, video conferencing, and more at a fraction of the time and cost.

RGB Spectrum introduced Zio, a new AV/IP technology platform. Zio offers video, audio and control distribution over an IP network. For moving large amounts of data, an IP infrastructure is the way to go. However, distributed video sources and destinations create unique challenges for time-sensitive video streams. Zio’s transport technologies and unique peer-to-peer architecture address these problems, while delivering exceptional user control and performance management.

RP Visual showcased their "Mount Hall of Fame",  a serpentine shaped Digital Zipper with their innovative mounting solutions used for LED, Flat Panels, Projection Cubes, and Front/Rear projection systems. They are still the go-to for unique mounting solutions.

We also need to shamelessly brag that while at the show, QSC voted Vistacom’s Pennsylvania Emergency Management Association project, QSys Installation of the Year. Also, our Director of Engineering, Matt Boyer received AQAV’s 2016 Quality Champion Award. All in a day’s work!
